remembering when i just had one child

yesterday my hubby had me dig through some of our boxes of stuff in the overcrowded abyss we call the garage, to find him old pictures of when he was young and unmarried! as i was looking i came across some of our old family pics, too and started remembering what it was like with just one child and way less stress and noise! so i just wanted to share a couple pics of my first born being silly, modeling one of my first crochet hats, and eating on the couch that i obviously didn't care about getting dirty! the days were much quieter but i really wouldn't change the way things are now...even as the children yell at each other while i type this!

so i'm off to the garage again to find more pics since i didn't find exactly what my hubby was looking for...so much for resting on my butt all day! you know at some point i really should clean out the garage and go through everything we have in there...but it just overwhelms me so i'll wait til we're ready to move again in about 2 years!

i love pillowcase dresses!

my little model, showing off the "olivia" pillowcase dress!

i finally got off my lazy butt, started making dresses for jordan for the upcoming fall/winter seasons and found that i love making pillowcase dresses! they are super easy and quick to make, the three dresses i've made so far only took a couple days...i would have been done sooner if i didn't insist on doing a million other things at the same time! i still have a few more dresses to make for her in the coming days and fully plan on getting them done by the first of oct only because it's getting colder and that damn wedding quilt keeps calling my name!

now, since i do have a "knack" for making super quick and easy dresses for my daughter and she's still at the age where mom clothes are just fine with her, i plan on taking full advantage of that! it saves me a ton on clothes for her since she insists on wearing dresses and in most cases i can just use the fabric that i already have. i will confess that i do tend to overbuy, whether fabric, beads, yarn, or whatever craft related thing i'm into at the moment so there is virtually no shortage of supplies in my house at any given time! so that makes things much easier when the mood strikes me to be creative, it drives my husband crazy but it keeps me happy...and that's really all that matters sometimes! for example, having extra fabric came in handy this past summer when i decided on july 3 to make a july 4th dress for jordan! see, further proof that i wait until the last minute to do things!

the orange and purple dress is for clemson, we're not really clemson fans but my hubby wanted something for jordy to wear to aggravate his dad and i just couldn't bring myself to spend $40+ on a cheerleader outfit! the pink dress has little pink ribbons for breast cancer on it and was supposed to be an actual pillowcase but i, obviously, had to make it into a dress!

i've been busy!

i've been working on all kinds of different projects over the last few weeks and really would like to show them off...unfortunately i have lost the camera so no pics! i'm completely frustrated about the whole lost camera thing since it seems to me like really, the house just ate the damn thing since i've looked everywhere for it and still can't figure out where it's gone to! so now i'm in the digital camera hunting process and am not happy about it...i'm trying to keep us on a budget and a new camera is just not part of that budget! seems to be the story of my life...there are my want things that never fall in line with my needs!

but, i have been working and that's the good thing...i even took a whole day off from cleaning so that i could work on various projects just because. of course for me, putting off cleaning is really no big thing since i try to avoid it on a daily basis anyway! i got a couple necklaces and bracelets made, finished quilting and binding jordan's "tea set quilt" (that's what she calls it since she wants to only use it for her tea sets), and quilted the table runner that i decided i would give to my mom for her birthday...i'll be binding it tonight and tomorrow, finishing it just in time to give it to her on sunday! nothing like waiting to finish things at the last possible minute...that's the story of my life!

i'm hoping to get lots more done this weekend and still have that wedding quilt to finish...clocks ticking but it's not screaming at me yet so i can ignore it for a few more days! fingers crossed that i find the camera or just breakdown and buy one!
